Top 10 Tools for Business Owners

By Morgan Goettge

Whether you are brand new to business or have been in the trenches for quite some time, you might be looking for some of the best tools to help you out on your journey. If you have a specific need, it can be difficult sorting through countless recommendations to find the right tool that meets your business needs.

As someone with a ton of experience trying out different tools, I’ve created a master list of my ten favorite tools as a business owner. Check out this list below!

Audible

While the first tool may not specifically be seen as something used for business, I’m here to change your mind. Recently, I’ve been making more time to read and it has definitely changed the way that I think about life and business. If you are someone that likes to listen to podcasts throughout the day, consider changing it up with a book related to business, marketing, or your specific industry.

Upwork & Fiverr

The next two resources, Upwork and Fiverr, are great if you have work to outsource or would like to automate some of your processes. For example, if there is a specific task that you need to do to run your business but you dread doing it, consider outsourcing the task altogether. This will help you to keep business momentum going while also spending your time on more enjoyable or revenue generating activities. I’ve had success with both Upwork and Fiverr when it comes to outsourcing work.

Evernote

This next tool, Evernote, seems extraordinarily simple, but it really is a gamechanger. If you are looking for a way to easily take and organize notes online, then Evernote is for you! I am definitely a big Google docs person, but something about the way that Evernote is organized makes it so easy to take notes. This is great if you take a lot of calls or are doing some research for your business.

Dubsado

Dubsado is a really great tool to manage the workflow of your business from proposal to invoice. I have been using Dubsado for a few years and I really love the aesthetic and customizability of the proposals, contracts, and invoices. I’ve also received compliments from clients around how professional these documents look and how easy they are to sign online. This is also a great tool for keeping track of your company revenue when it comes time to pay those taxes.

Honey

The Chrome extension, Honey, is seriously so amazing for online shopping. If you need to purchase equipment, office accessories or even professional clothing for your business, the Honey extension will look for coupons that you can use when checking out. You are also able to earn points that can be redeemed for future purchases!

Boomerang

If you send a lot of emails, Boomerang is for you! This is a great sales tool as you are able to keep track of emails sent and can even track if someone has opened an email. I highly recommend this tool if you want to try out cold emails for your business.

Calendly

Calendly is my favorite tool when it comes to booking appointments for my business. All you need to do is define your availability and then send out your Calendly link. Once someone has this link they are then able to book time on your calendar according to your availability.

Canva

Canva is my absolute favorite tool when it comes to creating graphics for my business. The free version of this tool offers a TON of value by providing templates, ready-made designs, and more. If you are someone that struggles with graphic design or maybe you just don’t have the time to design a graphic from scratch, definitely check out Canva!

Dropbox

If you are like me, you create a ton of content for your business. If you have files to store, Dropbox is a really great option. You are also able to share files and create different folders within the platform to organize all of your data.

Everlance

When traveling for work it is very important to keep track of mileage for tax write-off purposes! Everlance makes it very easy to begin tracking your mileage as soon as you start driving. This is a really easy-to-use app that I highly recommend if you want to track your mileage!
