#24: Empowering Women with Jane DO

Have you ever met someone who just oozes confidence? Every word they say, every step they take, every move they make is done with purpose and focus. If it seems like you can’t be that confident, well…you haven’t met the ladies of Jane DO, who are empowering women through total body workouts designed to lift spirits while kicking booties.

Jane DO is a fitness brand crafted by former Radio City Rockettes Jacey Lambros and Danielle DeAngelo. They’ve developed musically charged, energy driven, cross-training workouts that offer variety and cater to every woman. The classes mix aerobics, strength training, and flexibility and redefine the word “healthy.” Jacey and Dani are on a quest to create the largest community of the world’s most powerful women—confident and ready to take on the world.

And after listening to this episode, I wouldn’t bet against them.

Highlights of our conversation include:

  • How Jacey and Dani met dancing with the Radio City Rockettes and the inspiration behind starting Jane DO, the female empowerment brand, and why they’re on a mission to create the largest community of the most powerful women. (1:55)

  • After their five studios closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jane DO turned to their network to help pivot into “virtually a production studio overnight” and how they’ve learned there’s no substitute for hard work. (3:25)

  • Where the name Jane DO came from and why they focus on the gain—something a lot of their competitors don’t do. (6:41)

  • The coolest and most rewarding comments Jacey and Dani have heard from their community, whether they’re a Jane DO or a Jane DUDE. (8:22)

  • A look inside the Jane DO on-demand app and the livestream program, plus why the chat component of the livestream is such a great tool for building community and allowing their Janes to have a voice and share their stories. (9:41)

  • Why finding music to play during livestream classes has been the hardest part of the live workout process. (11:51)

  • Jacey and Dani’s tips for scaling a business, and how they’ve continued growing Jane DO from one to five gyms, a mobile app, and live-streaming events. (14:59)

  • Why female empowerment is experiencing a revolution right now thanks to sex tech and more open conversations, and why Jane DO wants to be a resource at the front of that conversation. (17:12)

  • The most inspirational women that Jacey and Dani look up to. (18:02)

What’s next for Jacey, Dani, and Jane DO?

Jane DO has been keeping the workouts rolling through their app and livestream events, and are running a special on their site right now. They’re also the official sponsor of the Brooklynettes, the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets Dance Team. Check Jane DO and discover a new way to empower yourself. And be sure to follow them below!
